Last Monday I managed to accomplish a trip I had been wanting to do for about three weeks. That was to go and Photograph three windmills not so far away from me but all roughly in the same area, North Buckinghamshire near Aylesbury. They are sufficiently close to each other to do on the same day. They are at Quainton, Brill and Pitstone. Various reasons prevented me from fulfilling my ambition for the last three weeks. last Monday wasn’t the best day, but it was the first available day. It also coincided with the arrival of my new camera, A Fujifilm X-T5, to replace my Fujifilm X-H2.
The X-H2 was a very good camera but as I found out soon after I bought it it was designed more for videographers rather photographers. I therefore arranged to exchange it via MPB, the photography exchange company. Basically you find a camera you want from their stock and get a quotation for the sale of your camera/lens etc. If that’s acceptable they arrange a courier to collect your camera take it back to them at their cost, they then inspect your camera and if they agree with your decision on the quality they then either pay you or you pay them based on the prices and they send your newish equipment to you.
Anyway, I digress, it was to be the first proper outing for my X-T5, albeit not the best of days. Cold, misty and not a lot of light. But after so many disappointments I wasn’t going waste the opportunity. My first stop was Quainton where I found the windmill but it was on private ground and only open to the public on certain days. I therefor found my way via footpaths and fields around the back of it and got some pictures. While there I took a look at the railway museum, such as I could see from the outside anyway, It looks like a good prospect for another visit at some time.

So I pressed on to Brill and found that windmill very easily right on top of the hill in the village, once again not good light but I did the best I could. By the time I had finished I decided it was too light to go to Pistone as well as that was about another forty five minutes away and the light was beginning to fade already. I do have some pictures of Pitstone Windmill from another visit anyway.

One thing I noticed about the two villages I did go to was the amount of cars parked by the roadside, and not from tourists. A shame really because I wasn’t really able to get any good pictures of the cottages and houses because of the obstructions.
I guess that will do for now, my first proper post and back with more quite soon…
