Last week on a rare sunny day we decided to visit this National Trust location that is quite near to us, about thirty minutes drive. We had planned to go a couple of weeks ago but life interfered with our plans. This was probably a good thing though as I recall that the weather was not really favourable but we needed a day out. I think somebody once. Said that the sun shines on the righteous !!

It was surprisingly busy, obviously we were not the only ones taking advantage of the weather. We parked the car and wandered through the grounds to the house and I took a few photos on the way.

I am quite familiar with Canons Ashby as it was one of the the coffee stops on the various Saturday morning club rides of the Milton Keynes Cycle Club that I was a member of a few years ago now. It has a courtyard outside the cafe with tables and ample space for about twenty or so bikes to be leant against walls.
After our coffee and cake we walked across to the church and took a look inside. WE passed the mini chain saw sculpted mushrooms on the way. I was particularly impressed by the mural over the window. I would imagine it’s been there a VERY long time !!
