Evening Walks: Enjoying Nature with Max

During the current hot spell I have been taking Max out in the evening when the heat has all gone. Its really very pleasant and not a lot of people about. Perfect for an amble and ambling is something I do very well !

Last night as I was walking past the allotments on my way to the meadows I noticed this stunning poppy trying to get through the fence, it certainly knew how to attract attention.

We carried on with our wanderings to the Church Meadows and the river, The River Great Ouse is its correct title. The light was fading and I could see the possibility of a sunset shot if I was patient. So we stood and stared for a little while as the picture developed. Actually I stood and stared and Max sniffed. Sure enough my patience was rewarded.

The swans were getting ready for bed and checking on the their cygnets, you can probably see them in the little bay on the left hand side of the river, Mrs Swan was sorting the children out while Mr Swan was patrolling the boundaries nearer the camera. You might also just spot a little white dot in there also, that was a Little Egret that had obviously popped in for an evening visit and who I didn’t notice until it flew away.
