Sizewell Beach

While on holiday in Suffolk last week we made a point to revisit this beach which we really like. It’s an attractive, natural example of an ex working beach. There are signs of its fishing history all over it, including fishermen’s cottages nearby. I think the presence of the power station probably helps to cut down on the visitor numbers but I dont mind that. You wouldn’t know it was there apart from the minimal visual impact. The fact that it is there means there are always plenty of spaces in the car park and always room at the cafe. The cafe owners may not agree with the last remark ! It is situated in East Anglia roughly between. the resorts of Aldeburgh and Southwold, more of which in a later post.

The beach is littered with boats, bits of boats, bits of fishing equipment and just ‘bits’. The following pictures are at the top end of the beach as come from the car park, the working area.

After spending some time around here we visited the cafe and then, suitably refreshed headed south along the beach to see what else we could find.

And then….

I could spend ages wandering around places like this and quite often do…
